Elusive Sound proudly presents “New Dark Age“, the long-awaited debut album from American post-rock/post-metal trio Glasir.
Recorded and mixed by Sam Striker at Native Darkness Productions and mastered by Randy Cordner at Beast Mansion, “New Dark Age” is the follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2015 EP “Unborn”, the very first Elusive Sound release. This incredible 3-piece from Dallas, Texas, have crafted a powerfully evocative album where their heavy siege cannon is unleashed and blasts us into a blackened world, where sound resonates in decayed city shells and life submerges in stagnant pools of death. We are one with the shadows hidden midst the smoke hung in a haze that ascends hollow towering walls of steel. It obscures a blood red sun we cannot see yet feel it’s oppressive heat searing down like the breath of hell. This is our tomorrow, a new dark age.
“For centuries, nature has been our predominant adversary in the struggle for survival. The development of our species, as the story goes, came only through our progressive mastery over the forces of nature. We first built our lives with little more than calloused hands and strong backs, and every subsequent development in production represented another stronghold in the battle for global agency. Our generation has finally defeated nature, and our ability to harness the wind, water, and soil towards highly sophisticated purposes represents a new era of human dominion.
But our declaration of victory was premature, for nature did not easily yield to our rule. The most vulnerable of our populations now face unprecedented natural destruction, but through it all, our leaders urge us forward in our march. Their zeal is not universal, and their charges are now met with protest, disbelief, and apathy, so they have shifted their justification from overt domination to dreams of a future without suffering, but continue to call us to arms against each other and the world all the same.
The collective consciousness of our species is today characterized by the latent fear that we have reached the doorstep of our demise. We gain nothing in our daily lives from obsessing over this idea, so we affect a guise of security. But from where it dwells in the back of our minds, this fear can drive anyone into a debilitating depression. Though we risk inflicting that fate upon ourselves, we hope by these songs to set the scene for a new kind of battle, one which we cannot win, but one which we may survive”.
