28/10/2017 AMFest 2017 VI Edition, Barcelona’s premier instrumental rock event was not only the first opportunity to see “Between Darkness and Light” being performed live but also BLAK‘s very first live performance.
The band had been rehearsing for the first time as a 5-piece leading up to the event with Roger Roca (bass) and Adrià Cabrerizo (guitar) joining founding members Carles PD (drums), Eloi Roca (guitar) and Eloi Casellas (guitar). Given the relevance of the festival, AMFest presented itself as a baptism by fire. Despite a few natural debut slip-ups, it was to be a great first show, with the band delivering an enthralling performance, receiving an enthusiastic reception and praise from the local press, which you can read below.
Such a historical night for the band had to be captured one way or another so thanks to Albert Royo for filming, Sergi Vila, QRO Magazine, Binaural and Science Of Noise for their coverage, kind words and photo galleries and of course, thanks to everyone one at AMFest and Aloud Music.

La primera banda de la tarde sonó impecable y seductora. Blak se estrenaban en el mundo del directo, y su debut no pudo ser mejor, empezando por momentos de calma elegantísima, y siguiendo por distorsiones mezcla perfecta entre burderismo y contención de frecuencias. Bello, todo muy bello, igualable a un concierto de los japoneses Mono.
Los de Roda de Ter presentaban el álbum Between Darkness And light (2017), y lo hicieron por todo lo alto, con tres guitarras muy bien aprovechadas, sumadas a un combo afiladísimo de bajo y batería que iba totalmente a la par. Hacía tiempo que no disfrutaba de un post rock clásico tan bien hecho. ¡Esperamos que su segundo concierto llegue pronto! – Science Of Noise
Arrastrando aún las duras consecuencias de que el AMFest coincidiera con la inauguración oficial del nuevo Nitsa/Astin de Apolo, acudimos a conocer a BLAK, nueva referencia post-rockera de por aquí, y quedamos tremendamente satisfechos. Con una formación a la Explosions in the Sky, sus tres guitarras daban mucho juego tanto a la hora de establecer diferentes capas musicales como para atacar al unísono. Era, sin embargo, en los momentos en los que cada voz instrumental construía una parte melódica distintiva para contribuir a un sonido final lleno y muy cuidado, cuando los de Roda de Ter alcanzaban el cénit. Su “Between darkness and light” está cargado de potencia y melodías evocadoras, y ambas cualidades se vieron aún incrementadas en este impecable directo. [Pau Ortiz] – Binaural
